Dunragit Excavation Diary
Day 14: Friday 18th August

Not sure what today's weather is going to bring, the sky's
a beautiful blue but the clouds are rather ominous !
We now a rouges gallery so you can see who we all are

On Site (when I get there )

Turned out to be a really good day so everbody took advantage of the
weather and got on with planning

Marcus set out to plan his posthole
he'ed remembered his 6H pencil, the scale rule, tape measure, line level,
string, graph paper,sharpner and
drawing board - now if he could
just remember where the hole was

Janet and Stuart had been
having a few problems recording
their section - in dry weather all
the layers can end up looking the same

So Matt demonstrated a usefull
technique - a plant spray to damp
down the section and enhance the
different layers

end result -looks good -hopefully
when I can put the plan through
the flat bed scanner I can publish
a more detailed account of this feature

Others carried on with their plans

Some even took a very laid back
approach to recorded - Ange claims its the way its done in proffesional units - we may have to make enquiries

Ruth failed to prove she was the
shortest person on site

more planning

Just to show we did get some planning done

There is a theory going around among
the diggers that supervisors are rather
like buses - they all turn up at once
- here Nicky and Charlotte get advice
from Chris and Erica

Archaeologists need to be organised
here's Johns reminder that he will
be back to finish this posthole on
Sunday
Site Visit
